Sorry for putting multiple points in a single note:

1) I would like the UI to retain my preference for collapsing/expanding, depending on view. If that not possible, please default to all collapsed, so that the initial view is a list of note headings.
2) I would prefer not to see "All Notes" as the default view. Rather than that, I would like an "Active Notes" category. This would then imply that the ability to exclude non-active notes from that view were available.
3) To extend that point, it would be good to have the option to selectively include or exclude each Tag from the Active view (so messages marked "Private" would not show up on the default view, for instance).
4) When I e-mail a note to UN I would like to be able to tag it in some way that automatically assigns the tags in UN for me. I use Taglocity (www.Taglocity.com) which embeds a tag line in the body of the e-mail e.g.: "Taglocity Tags: personal, private" which could perhaps be given a thought - maybe search for a string value in the e-mail.

View Notes in Firefox Sidebar?

Hi,

Been a user for nearly 10 minutes now :P , but already a stand-out wish would be for the "view notes" function from the Firefox toolbar to open in the sidebar - I hate pop-up separate windows. An alternative (and probably an option that should be configurable in Options) is to open into a new tab within the main browser.

Looks good and feels performant, so will continue to sample UberNote with interest. :)

Note exporting feature

An "export note" feature would be useful, for backup of notes and for offline archiving. Exporting as a plain text file would be great, and even greater would be an option to export multiple notes into one text file.

I'm thinking of this as a total ubernote backup feature, for when you've got someone with 50 notes full of information, and they want to have access to it all offline, or they're done with a note and want it off their active note list but want to archive a copy of it offline, or they're paranoid about you guys losing the info, or something similar. I've used online note apps before that have inexplicably disappeared or gone down for weeks at a time, leaving me worrying about whether I'll ever get access to my data again.

Open API

A feature that is sorely lacking from UberNote is an open API for the service. Allowing users to programmatically access and modify their notes will cause an explosion of new users as amateur developers create Facebook apps, Google Gadgets, etc… letting users access UberNote from almost anywhere.

I think that most people would agree that the most frustrating aspect of UberNote is that it is locked into a website that must be visited multiple times per day in order to stay on-top of To Do lists and other notes. With an open API, homepage plug-ins, Dashboard Widgets, even stand-alone desktop apps can allow users to access UberNote.

I have a number of ideas as to how the API would be constructed and what it may include, however, I leave that up to the UberNote developers, as I do not know the underlying architecture of UberNote. If you would like to discuss this feature further, please let me know.

Spreadsheets or tables

Making tags more useful

Being able to bring up the notes for combined tags would be awesome, and make this a lot more useful. Like, for example, I'm using this to brainstorm some ideas for my next novel, and I'm tagging stuff with the novel name and then what the note pertains to (so I can use this in future novels as well) and I'd like to be able to bring up all the characters for the book by just bringing up the tags novelname + character.

Also, a way of rearranging the order of notes (rather then most recently created first) would be very handy.

Add Firefox support with Bookmarklets and RSS

It's probably important to add Firefox support before too many people try out the app. If it's not supported you risk turning off some of the more tech savvy folks out there (who, from what I've observed personall, all tend to use Firefox).

Sorting Tags

Choose How Many Notes to View Per Page

The subject says it all---instead of being limited to 10 notes per page, I'd like to be able to choose how many, say 50 per page, or all of them.

Right now deleting notes bounces you back to the very first page, which is a little disorienting when you're on page four or whatever.

Text size request/recommendation

A great thing about Firefox is its ease of expanding text size to make for easy reading and editing.

Ubernote responds to the increase of text size, but doesn't re wrap, not provide a bottom scroll bar to recenter the text

I wish I could work in Ubernote with any text size I prefer (like in Wikipedia for example).

Can programmers manage that? Increase text size but keep all readable and editable inside the edit box

Detachable notes

I use Firefox spell checking extensions when I right click to spell correct it conflicts with bring up the menu for ubernote.

As I am dyslexic I must have a spell checker.

Dear Men Behind the Curtain,

So I know I'm *way* late to the party, but I finally had the lightbulb moment of, "I'll be damned... Ubernote would be [i]perfect[/i] for this!"

That being said, this isn't so much a feature request as some generic feedback. (Or perhaps it's a veiled feature request... one for a method of submitting feedback that isn't necessarily a Bug Report or a Feature Request?) So here goes...

I find the gray text on the buttons a bit disconcerting, particularly on the sign-up and login pages. It's probably a matter of being trained by Windows/Installshield to believe that when a button is grayed out, it means I haven't properly filled out all of the required information. So when I fill in my username, password, and email address on the sign-up page, my gut tells me that the button should go black. The fact that it doesn't makes me go back and double-check everything, because I've been trained to expect that when a button is gray, it can't be clicked on...

Have I been drinking too much of the Microsoft Kool-Aid?

Calendar with email notification?

Hi everyone,

Fantastic application! I've been using Ubernote for a few days and I already have a pile of notes well organized with various tags. Love it!

My suggestion, and I realize it's a big one, would be to integrate a basic calendar to which you could associate note(s). Also, an email notification system where certain events are due on certain dates would send a simple email note.

Just a couple of suggestions.

Also, I just ran the spellcheck and it catches "ubernote" as a mistake :) Kinda funny!

It seems to me that since for each category you get a list of the notes, and that list can quickly get long, you want to provide the ability to expand and collapse notes. I'd imagine doing a few things: Expand and collapse the notes into their header, when you hover over them show the first few lines of the note in a pop up to help users narrow it down, and let people re-order the notes in each section. I'll acquiesce that these capabilities may be here but I gave myself a few minutes to try to do them and wasn't able to figure out any way.

A minor request, related to wanting different color and size fonts. I'm a really visual person, and being able to have different background colors for the notes (ie, by background I mean the text field background) would really help to make one note stand out from the others. You don't even have to give the whole rainbow of colors. Maybe a dozen or so tasteful pastels that work well with black text would be enough for me. It all comes down to being able to differentiate one note from another for me.

As a newbie, I find it fairly difficult to fine what those little buttons do. Of course, most are self explanatory, but a few are not. Hovering tool tips on the buttons would be nice.

Tab between fields

Free form writing

what would really help is if -bear with me while i try to describe this - we can doodle. what i mean is, if there's a brush or free writing tool, like in photoshop/paint where you use the mouse to draw. i normally use this to draw diagrams or pictures to be used later. at the moment no one does this. perhaps you could do it then ubernote will be supernote!

Bookmarklet?

I just signed up & wondered....does Uber Note have a bookmarklet available? It would be very handy for adding new notes. Google Notebook comes to mind...also, "add to delicious", "post to facebook"....that type of thing.

Also, can you import bookmarks? or RSS feeds? It would be nice to be able to do those things.

It would be helpful if we had the ability to tab in notes, or to somehow create columns. Right now if you tab, it indents the entire line and seems to add a blank line above and below it.

Feature Requests

Ok, here are a few usability features that would I think would help out.

1) Control-Z undo, I've already accidentatly deleted all the text in several notes with an incorrect key stroke on my part. Including my note that contained all my feature improvements, so now I'm operating from memory.

2) Icons to add bullets/numbers/bold/etc.

3) An expandable navigation tree, so you can expand a note tag and see a list of note titles in the tree that are under it

4) Default to a text box when opened. Example: if I click edit title, put the cursor in the text box so I don't have to move the mouse over it and click on it

5) Perform a search if you hit enter in the seach box, in addition to clicking on the search icon

Port from other note software

So i have evernote with alot of notes and it seems like a difficult task to move from one to the other. It would be great to be able to export my notes in EverNote and be able to import them here. Since the export from evernote uses XML, it shouldn't be to difficult to parse the XML and create the categories and notes that already exist.

Also it might be nice to have a note tag hierarchy instead of a list of tags.

Scrolling

When scrolling (mouse wheel or pageup/pagedown), I'd like to be able to scroll more than just the current note, so I could find the note I'm looking for. Currently I have to use the IE scroll bar.

Hidden or PW protected notes

If I have my list of notes open, there may be some notes I don't want to show on the screen. For example, if I'm looking at my notes with my gf in the room I might have a note that has "gift ideas" (for Valentine's day, her birthday, etc) that I don't want her to see. If there was a way to make a note "hidden" or "private" and preferably pw protected that would be great!

Or if I want a central location to store website passwords, etc. it would be nice if that note was hidden from view.

I'm sure I can think of plenty of examples where this would help. :D

I find myself really missing the basic stuff that even this forum has for doing lists (ordered and unordered) and some basic formatting. I'm not looking for the world in a note, but H1-H3, UL, OL, B, U would all be great and need to be easy-peasy to acess.

Also, it took me longer than it should to determine how to edit the title of my note. It didn't occur to me to right-click for some time; there just isn't that much RC on the web. I was able to highlight it and kinda get it to look like maybe it wanted to let me edit & overtype. I think I should be able to click on the title and get into edit mode.

Here's an idea for a "feature" (not really for functionality, but rather for aesthetics): I would like to see different views of my notes. The default view is fine, but I like to think of my notes on a cork board that look like post-its and index cards.

Maps

Just looking for something for you guys to differentiate yourselves. How about this: Anytime an address shows up in the list, the software figures out it is an address and makes it a link or puts an icon next to it or something. Click that link or icon, and it brings you to a google maps mashup with all the addresses in that note. This way when you're househunting or keeping track of your favorite restaurants, you could map them easily.
